Convert Korean License to German License

⚠️ Important!

Korean driver's license is only valid for 6 months after starting residence in Germany. After that, you must convert to a German license. Driving without conversion is considered driving without a license.

Original Korean driver's license

German translation of Korean license (certified translator)

Passport or ID card

Registration confirmation (Meldebescheinigung)

Biometric passport photo (35x45mm)

Vision test certificate (Sehtest)

First aid course certificate (Erste-Hilfe-Kurs)

Application form (completed at Führerscheinstelle)

Q: Do I need to take a test?

A: Korea has a mutual recognition agreement with Germany, so you can convert without theory/practical tests.
